Hiking dates confirmed: 7/17 - 7/24
The letter arrived today. We are confirmed for the High Sierra Trail on July 17th, exiting at Whitney on July 24th. They also sent along this delightful booklet, "Hiking the Mt. Whitney Trail." Lots of great information about pooping in the Whitney Zone. Most of the advice here is for people approaching from the Lone Pine side.

Blogging. uhg. You need 24 hours per 6,000 feet before continuing on. Standard. It is also advisable that there be a hot tub and champagne, lest evil come "out of the woodwork". On the decent, little plastic "saucer" sleds will help avoid getting cut up, a la Wroblicky.
